In the latest of our Marathon Season posts, Karly Daniels shares her #ReasonsToRun the London Marathon 2019.
Can you tell us your name?
How many marathons have you run?
3 (Manchester x 2, London x 1)
What charity are you running for and why?
I’m running for MND Association as my dad was diagnosed with motor neurone disease 5 years ago. Whilst he is defying statistics (1/3 of people die within 18 months of diagnosis and 50% within 2 years) seeing his health decline So drastically has broken my heart and the thought of losing him terrifies me. MND Association have been an invaluable source of support to me, offering me counselling to come to term with my dads terminal illness. They are the only charity dedicating funding into research into the treatment and hopefully one day a cure for MND. I run for my dad because he can’t run. He can’t walk, he can’t drive, he’ll most likely even lose his speech soon. But he is proud and he is positive and still so full of humour. I take strength from my dads strength.
How do you plan to recover after the marathon?
With a chocolate milk and a burger. (And some oofos if I can ever afford some)
